This project aimed to create:

THE GOAL
My primary goals in taking charge of the app were to ensure correctness, efficiency, and maintainability in design. Focused on enhancing functionality, I aimed to create an app that provides easy access to the league and fosters interaction between users. Implementing a user-friendly navigation system and a robust design system, I sought to boost engagement through features like badges and points, resulting in a well-rounded and captivating user experience.

HERE IS HOW I PLANNED AND ORGANIZED MY RESEARCH:
This structured approach ensured a well-informed and user-centered design process for the Disc Golf League app, combining industry research, stakeholder input, and iterative design practices:
- Project Kickoff: Initiated a comprehensive project kickoff meeting to align with stakeholders on project objectives, goals, and expectations.
- Competitive Analysis: Performed a thorough analysis of existing disc golf apps and competitor products to identify industry trends, strengths, and areas for innovation.
- Iterative Design Reviews: Facilitated regular design reviews with stakeholders, incorporating feedback and making iterative improvements to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Wireframing and Prototyping: Developed wireframes and interactive prototypes using tools like Figma, allowing for early-stage user testing and feedback integration.
- Final Design Refinement: Applied insights from testing to refine the final design, ensuring optimal usability, visual appeal, and alignment with both client expectations and industry standards.
- Documentation and Handover: Prepared comprehensive design documentation, including style guides and design system components, to facilitate a smooth handover for development and future iterations.
PROBLEM
Upon joining the project, I encountered a disjointed workflow with no handover from the prior designer, leading to a gap in understanding the project's vision. The lack of effective communication among the client, project manager, and designer had previously resulted in unmet expectations, necessitating a strategic realignment.
SOLUTION
Taking over the Disc Golf League app, I ensured a seamless design process by establishing transparent communication with the client, developers, and the project manager. The project was delivered on time, ready for development and testing. To address conflicting client preferences, we introduced a collaborative design structure, fostering active client participation in decision-making. The result? A timely delivered project ready for development and testing, meeting and exceeding client’s expectations.
DESIGN
I started by crafting preliminary mockups outlining the fundamental user journey. Prioritizing a sleek, refreshing gradient aesthetic, I delved into the nuances of UI simplicity. The design canvas unfolded, encompassing diverse screens—from account and settings to league dashboards and core gameplay interfaces—all seamlessly integrated to encapsulate a cohesive and visually engaging user experience.
LOGIN AND ACCOUNT CREATION
Crafting the login mobile flow for the Disc Golf League app, I aimed to seamlessly guide users through authentication with intuitive screens. From a welcoming login screen to secure authentication and personalized account setup, each step prioritized simplicity and ease of use.
PHOTO UPLOAD
Shaping the photo upload mobile flow for the Disc Golf League app was about curating a visual identity. From a seamless image selection to interactive editing and effortless sharing, each screen prioritized user empowerment, fostering a sense of personalization within the league community.
SETTINGS
Designing the settings mobile flow for the Disc Golf League app was about empowering users. From personalized preferences to account management and notification settings, each screen prioritized intuitive navigation and seamless customization for an enhanced user experience.
LEAGUES AND SECTIONS
The league sections, meticulously designed, cater to diverse needs. Screens for different leagues ensure personalized experiences, fostering community engagement. A shared or invite-only league feature promotes inclusivity, while private members and leagues offer exclusive spaces for dedicated players. The addition of new users seamlessly enhances user interaction, and event screens capture the vibrancy of disc golf gatherings.
DASHBOARD AND CORE GAME
The dashboard is a visual feast. Meticulously designed screens for different leagues offer tailored content, while shared or invite-only features foster community connections. Private members and leagues ensure exclusive gameplay. The addition of new users is seamless, and event screens capture the pulse of dynamic disc golf gatherings.
APP STORE SCREENS
The Disc Golf League app's store promo was a design journey blending aesthetics and functionality. Crafted screens showcased diverse league experiences, emphasizing shared, private, and invite-only leagues. Captivating visuals and streamlined user flows enhanced the appeal for potential users on both Apple Store and Google Play.
DESIGN SYSTEM
Leveraging a robust design system, the mobile Disc Golf app's UI was meticulously crafted for ESPN. Consistency in elements, color schemes, and typography ensures a seamless and visually cohesive user experience.
CONCLUSION
Completing the mobile Disc Golf League app design over the past year has been a journey fueled by a commitment to elevating the user experience. Meticulous planning, user-centric design, and iterative prototyping were the pillars shaping this project.
