ABOUT THE COMPANY

University Christian School is a private Christian School in Jacksonville, Florida, U.S. It is part of the ministry of the University Church, a local Baptist congregation. It serves students from pre-kindergarten through graduation. The school has a strong focus on sports and has won several state titles in various sports such as football, baseball and wrestling. The school was established as a segregation academy in order to keep white children away from minorities in response to court ordered desegregation of public schools.

PRODUCT VISION

This project aimed to create:

  1. To offer visitors a more engaging and efficient online experience, ensuring easy navigation, clear communication of information.

  2. To create a visually appealing interface that reflects the vibrancy and professionalism of the organization.

THE GOAL

The goal in redesigning the UCSJAX website was to enhance its overall user experience and functionality. Focused on creating a modern and intuitive platform, the redesigned site aims to provide visitors with easy navigation, improved accessibility, and a visually engaging interface. The objective is to ensure that users can effortlessly access relevant information, fostering a positive and efficient online interaction with UCSJAX.

HERE IS HOW I PLANNED AND ORGANIZED MY RESEARCH:

The redesign was driven by a strategic approach to meet the institution's specific goals and enhance the overall user experience. The process unfolded in several key stages:.

- Assessment and Analysis:
This involved analyzing the data, feedback, and conducting usability studies to identify pain points and areas for improvement within the university and the community.

- Goals and Objectives: Clear goals and objectives were established based on the institution's vision and mission. Including also, improving website navigation and architecture, improving information accessibility, and ensuring the representation of the university's identity through a modern and visually appealing design.

- Collaboration and Stakeholder Involvement: Regular communication to understand and consider their perspectives, and the specific requirement that each department were addressing during the redesign process.

- Wireframing and Prototyping: Wireframes were created to outline the website's structure and layout. Interactive prototypes were developed to simulate user interactions, allowing for testing and refinement before full-scale implementation.

- Responsive Design: With a focus on accessibility, a design that adapts seamlessly to various devices.

- Post-Launch Evaluation: Post-launch evaluation involved tracking user behavior, gathering feedback, and addressing any emerging issues promptly.

PROBLEM

The previous UCSJAX website faced usability challenges, lacking an intuitive interface and making it difficult for users to navigate or comprehend information easily. Navigating through the site was a cumbersome experience, prompting the need for a redesign to enhance user-friendliness and overall accessibility.

SOLUTION

In addressing the shortcomings of the previous UCSJAX website, I implemented a comprehensive redesign focused on intuitive navigation and user-friendly interfaces. The revamped site now boasts a seamless user experience, making information easily accessible and enhancing overall clarity. With a fresh design, the new UCSJAX website is geared towards providing visitors with a more engaging and straightforward online journey.

PROTOTYPING

The prototyping phase of the UCSJAX website redesign involved translating design concepts into interactive models to simulate user interactions and flow. With the feedback from the client and the support from the agency, I created the wireframes, interactive mockups, and a prototype aimed to visualize the website's structure, navigation, and key functionalities before actual development. The prototype served as a blueprint for developers, guiding the implementation of features that enhance user engagement, accessibility, and overall satisfaction on the newly redesigned UCSJAX website.

STYLE GUIDANCE

CONCLUSION

The redesign of the UCSJAX website was driven by a commitment to enhance the digital experience for users. Through meticulous planning, user-centric design, and iterative prototyping, we aimed to address the shortcomings of the previous site, providing a platform that is not only visually appealing but also intuitive, accessible, and with updates for new students, parents, teachers, and other members of the University. The focus on improved navigation, clearer communication, and engaging design elements reflects our dedication to creating a website that mirrors the vibrancy of UCSJAX.
